At a working rehearsal of La Traviata, September 2018

We are happy to welcome a class of Osher Institute members (formerly Christopher Wren Association) to observe a working rehearsal of each of our operas. The singers will already have rehearsed the music and the staging for a couple of weeks before coming to the Kimball Theatre to rehearse on the stage of the theater. This rehearsal will be a work session with piano accompaniment, with no costumes and with minimal props, with possible repetitions and with backstage staff moving around. It is an excellent opportunity to see the work that goes into doing opera — the elements that are involved in putting a production together. Each director works differently; all are excellent, and have superb singers to work with at Opera in Williamsburg.

A synopsis of the opera will be distributed to students ahead of time by email.

To attend, please register for the class at the Osher Institute. The number of students is limited by the institute. The class usually fills up immediately when registration opens.

For L’Elisir d’Amore in September 2020 please feel free to get in touch directly with Opera in Williamsburg at Naama@OperainWilliamsburg.org — thank you.
